Macaulay Culkin’s star seemed to burn out before it even had a chance to truly shine.
The child actor seemed destined to A-list Hollywood success after his smash-hit introduction to the box office scene “Home Alone.”
The actor was charismatic and magnetic in his first major role. “Home Alone” would gross over $450 million worldwide, while its sequel ‘Home Alone 2: Lost in New York” would gross over $350 million worldwide.
It seemed like Culkin was destined to be on top of the world.
But his life seemed to take a darker turn, and it appeared to descend into an alleged lifelong battle with drug usage.
Culkin has vehemently denied the more sensationalist rumors about his alleged drug usage, such as “pounding” $6,000 worth of heroin a month.
“No, I was not pounding six grand of heroin every month or whatever,” the 36-year-old Culkin said, as reported by ET online. ”The thing that bugged me was tabloids wrapping it all in this weird guise of concern. No, you’re trying to shift papers.”
Suggestively, however, Culkin said that “perhaps” there was a bigger story than the public is aware of when it comes to actor’s health.
As cynical as Culkin’s point is, it is undeniable that his role as the sly and resourceful Kevin McCallister, a rebellious pre-teen with a devil-may-care grin, resonated in the popular culture. His Christmas-themed film “Home Alone” endeared him to many who felt like they had invited the spunky crime-fighting youngster into their home for the holiday season.
It is, therefore, disturbing to many that someone who appeared so sweet and innocent as a youth could somehow transform into every parent’s worst fears.
Even if Culkin never used drugs, and especially to the extent the tabloids claim, his gaunt and ashen appearance had convinced many that he had become every parent’s worst nightmare.

Thus, when Cullkin was spotted out in public, fans couldn’t help but notice how much better he looked.
“Macaulay is looking pretty good, and healthy too, so glad to see this! We’ve been spending every Christmas watching him, go Macaulay!” One Instagram user responded. “You look great” and “a new man” were among the other comments on the actor’s photo.
In popular culture, appearance is often said to be reality. And if his appearance lately is any indication, it certainly appears Culkin is turning his health around. At least, we can hope.
